World Champs: Will Bell
"I've been known to need a fruit bowl for my motel breakfasts..."
Will I Am last rang the World Champs Bell back in 2019. Since then, he has run all the Wuu2k courses back-to-back, started his own coaching business, and has discovered new depths of endurance while raising twin girls.
I asked as many of the Kiwi team to fill out a short Bio and answer 10 questions from a pool of about 30, so us suckers back home have a better idea of who we’re supporting over in the Pyrenees.
Take it away Will!

10 Quick Fire Questions With Will
Burger or pizza?
Pizza (Burgers are way harder to eat on a run)
Uphill grind or downhill send?
Uphill grind (way easier to eat and the views are better up there)
Sunrise or sunset?
Por qué no los dos? (in the same run)
Strava titles: “Morning Run” or full creative writing exercise?
I’m doing a lot with song lyrics at the moment. Especially Disney songs. I often think of the perfect Strava title mid-run, only to forget it by the end.
Go-to pre-race brekkie?
6-16 Weet-Bix depending on race distance. I've been known to need a fruit bowl for my motel breakfasts...
What's your best memory from a race?
Sitting down 100K into a miler to have some dinner with my kids then getting some good luck fist bumps.
What’s a local trail you’ll never get sick of running?
Red Rocks Loop on Wellington’s south coast
If you could only run one race ever again, what would it be?
Faultline Ultra 100 Miler (it’s local and connects up our amazing trail network across four cities)
Go to song to amp up for a workout or race?
Synthony’s version of Sandstorm
What does it mean to pull on the black singlet and rep NZ?
It’s a dream come true, mate. I want to get that thing framed and hang it on my wall when I’m done.
What are you most fizzed for in Spain?
The Pyrenees. Have you seen those bad boys?! Also the vibes are expected to be pretty awesome with lots of enthusiastic fans. I've also seen pictures or horses and goats along the trail, so lots to tell my kids about when I'm done.
Awesome, thanks for that, Will! All the best for the World Champs!
