Segment Showdown September
Alright, August is well and truly in the books - it’s 1/3 of the way into September!
Congratulations once again to the August winners.
Kelly Davenport, Tom Peck, and Allira Hanczakowski
Enjoy the glory!
Dunedin
Last month, Steve Tripp dropped in this little segment with one of his shameless Crush The Cargil posts.
Devil’s Staircase
The Devil seems to be a fan of stairs. We might need a top 10 Devil’s Staircases at some point.

Now, it’s about 20-30 minutes to the car park from Dunedin, but getting into such a wild-looking area is worth the effort.
The segment is the track heading up to the ridge on the left.
Steve said, “If I’m 3rd, there definitely needs some more action.”

2017 & 2018. I think it’s about time for a new ruler to take the crown.
Wellington
Joe Murphy has put one of his crowns on the line this month.

This one’s going to sting. There are a few turns on the segment, so you may need to do a tester to ensure you’ve got it right before letting loose.
Here are a couple of pics from Joe and a brief description:
Start just after the pottery workshop. There are some really sweet sections of clear trail, some steep AF, and some sections with a couple of choices: bush bash (direct but probably slower) or trails.
This one really has a bit of everything and is on the doorstep of the CBD.
The segment starts about 40M uphill from this signpost. A good amount of lead in, to come in hot.
Swing to the left, not down the stairs here.
Go right at the 2 old tree trunks, and then it’s a good push to the summit.
There is plenty of grass at the summit to lie down on while you wait for your run to upload.

Not in Wellington or Dunedin?
Keep an eye on Grab-a-seat🤪!
If you’ve got a favourite trail running segment, send it in, and I’ll update this month’s segments or put it up next month.
